Happily Wed!

 emoticon

We’re back from Iceland, happily wed!

Photos of both the wedding and Iceland can be found on Flickr, here.

Sadly none of the Northern Lights, although we did see them and they were amazing!

I’m still here!

 emoticon

Organising the wedding has sort of taken over, and everything else - blog included - has been sort of unintentionally sidelined.

But the dress is fitted, my hair is cut, the photographer is organised, the forms are finalised, the priest is confirmed, the flowers are arranged, the rings are collected, thermal undies are procured, Fuzz’s baby-sitter is sorted and the flight leaves Sunday! The only question mark revolves around whether the 1/4 stone I’ve gained through nervous eating (cheescake is not my friend) will affect my dress - eek!

Apologies to the people who’ve emailed me and have not had a response; I will be back on the ball upon my return. For now, wish me luck!

The soon to be Mrs-Tom x

Introducing: Fuzzy McWuzzy

 emoticon

Hi, my name’s Fuzz. Mum’s busy right now, so I’m chewing using the computer.

This is my favourite toy: I love to chase it all around the house, especially when mum chucks it up the stairs and it bounces down. Once, I took it out to play and lost it! Luckily mum found it half way down the street on some guy’s driveway. I wonder how it got there?

Mum n Dad bought a new mattress. I dont like it because it smells of shop, yuck! So, I’ve clawed myself to the old one in protest, and I chew anyone who tries to move me!

Fuzzy Power!

These are my biscuits. Mine, you hear? Paws off!

Fuzz

I love my biscuits. James Wellbeloved Turkey and Rice, yum yum yum. Most of the time mum puts fresh ones down whenever I ask, but sometimes I like to get them myself. You’d think mum would be pleased that I’d saved her a job, wouldn’t you?

Recently she tried to introduce me to Lamb and Rice flavour, but I wasn’t having it. So, I dragged the bag of Turkey biscuits (5kg, phew!) through the dining room to where mum was sitting, and started mewing. She crumbled like a cookie: Turkey biscuits all round!

Well, I’m starting to get a bit tired now, so I’m going to *yawn* go and have a *yawn* nap…

ZZZzzz…

Family Tree

 emoticon

I’ve been doing my family tree on and off for several years now. As part of the research, I borrowed all mum and dad’s old photos which I’ve slowly been working my way through.

I found some really great ones of my grandad, which I’ve scanned and ordered copies of. I think they’ll look great on the wall of my Victorian house; I’d love to see if I can find some old frames rather than buying new.

Granda was the Head Foreman at a shipyard in South Shields, where my family is from. He was nicknamed “Mick the Hat” after his life-long love of odd hats, and because (so I’m told) back then, each rank in the ship yards had a specific type of hat unofficially “allocated” to it. When he started out, he wore a flat cap, and by the time he retired he wore a trillby.

I also scanned and printed some photos of relatives which I don’t recognise, just because they’re such excellent photos. I love these; they show such insight in the subjects’ daily lives: the happiness, the washing strung between neighbouring houses, army life, brightly coloured tents on Shields Beach!!

Dish o’ the month: January

 emoticon

I love to cook, but often find myself cooking the same-old same-old. So, as a sort of new year’s resolution, I decided that I would cook a totally new dish at least once a month - something a bit out of the ordinary, a bit special.

This month’s dish: Guinea Fowl with Roast Cauliflower, on a bed of wilted spinach.

more ?

Hair Vines

 emoticon

Hair VineSome of you may know I’m getting married in March. I haven’t blogged about it that much because a) I’m likely to be quite stressed out and b) I do hope (possibly in vain) that Tom reads this blog every now and again, and I dont want him seeing too many photos.

Anyway. Mum and I went shopping for shoes (and bras and stockings and stoles and…) a few weeks ago, and Mum (the Knower of Everything) asked what I was doing with my hair.

“My hair? I have to do something with my hair? Hmmm….” (and thus another panicked thought process begins)

I tried on a tiara, but I have to be honest: I think they are the most tacky things around. So I looked and I looked, and I have finally settle on a hair vine. I’ve ordered a custom-made vine from an Etsy Seller , to match my dress. I’ve posted some of her work below, isn’t it fab?

Phew, panic over!
